O Euchari by St. Hildegard von Bingen, Doctor of the Church

This is the first verse of a chant written by St. Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), in honor of St. Eucharius, one of the 72 close disciples of Christ. The words in Latin & English follow:

O Eucharius, you walked a joyous road
where you stayed with the son of God,
touching him, and seeing his miracles that he wrought! O Eucharius, O Eucharius!

O Euchari, in leta via ambulasti
ubi cum Filio Dei mansisti,
illum tangendo et miracula ejus que fecit videndo. O Euchari, O Euchari!

Sacred music accompanies the eternal act of the Sacrifice of the Son of God for the Redemption of all. United to the Heavenly Liturgy through time and space, if it sounds other-worldly, that is on purpose. Glory to God in the highest!
